Job summary
LAC-Federal is hiring a Librarian (Cataloging and Metadata) to support a military and engineering history library. You will perform professional cataloging, metadata work, collection development, and digitization support for diverse materials, following federal workflows.
The role is primarily remote with occasional travel to Maryland, Washington, DC, Virginia, and Missouri. Required are an MLS/MLIS and 2+ years of cataloging across formats; strong metadata skills (MARC, MODS, Dublin Core) and
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Library Science or Library and Information Science (MLS/MLIS).
- Minimum of two years cataloging experience across formats (monographs, maps, manuscripts, rare books).
- Experience handling older/delicate materials and metadata for digitization.
Responsibilities
- Perform original and copy cataloging for print and historical collections.
- Catalog materials across formats including maps, manuscripts, and rare items.
- Create and maintain bibliographic and metadata records for discoverability.
- Apply MARC, MODS, Dublin Core; ensure interoperability and quality.
- Provide metadata support for digitization and ingestion of agency materials.
