Job summary
A federal agency is seeking a Librarian to enhance access to historical collections focused on military and engineering history. The successful candidate will manage cataloging, metadata creation, and collection analysis for various historical materials, ensuring their preservation. A Master's in Library Science and at least 2 years of cataloging experience are required, along with knowledge of metadata standards. This position may involve travel and requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
Qualifications
Minimum 2 years experience in cataloging and metadata creation.
Experience with development and maintenance of metadata files.
Ability to work on-site in the Washington, DC metro area.
Responsibilities
Perform original and copy cataloging for monographs, reports, and historical publications.
Create, edit, and maintain metadata for digital and digitized collections.
Conduct collection analysis, including relevance assessment and weeding recommendations.
