Qualifications

• High School Diploma (GED) required.
• Minimum 2 years prior experience in a medical records department or similar setting preferred.
• Strong computer software experience -- Word and Excel required.
• Excellent organizational skills are a must.
• Typing at least 50 wpm.
• Ability to use fax, copier, and scanning machine.
• Willing to learn new equipment and processes quickly.
• Self-motivated, a team player with proven customer satisfaction skills.
• Ability to multi-task.

Responsibilities

• Process release of information requests accurately and timely.
• Retrieve and return patient charts, scan records, and transmit as required.
• Date stamp requests and highlight pertinent data.
• Validate requests and authorizations per procedures.
• Perform quality checks for accuracy and confidentiality.
• Maintain equipment in good working order.
• Provide excellent customer service and address client concerns.
• Handle incoming requests via mail, phone, or fax as needed.
• Keep work area and records organized and secure.
• Adhere to HIPAA and state/federal regulations.
• Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards.
• Handle privileged information carefully.
