Job summary

Sharecare is seeking a distributed Remote Medical Records Clerk responsible for processing release of information requests. You will safeguard patient privacy, ensure HIPAA compliance, and deliver accurate, timely information to customers with a focus on quality and service.

Typical duties include retrieving and scanning medical records, verifying requests, and maintaining records with a high standard of confidentiality. A minimum high school diploma and 2 years experience are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma (GED) required.
• Minimum 2 years prior experience in a medical records department or similar setting preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Excellent organizational skills required.
• Must be able to type 50 wpm.
• Must be able to operate fax, copier, and scanning equipment.
• Willingness to learn new equipment and processes quickly.
• Self-motivated and a team player.
• Proven customer satisfaction skills.
• Ability to multi-task.

Responsibilities

• Completes release of information requests including retrieving patient charts and returning them, scanning records accurately, and transmitting daily per procedures.
• Date stamps all requests and highlights pertinent data to aid processing.
• Validates requests and authorizations for release of medical information per procedures.
• Performs quality checks to ensure accuracy, confidentiality, and proper invoicing.
• Maintains equipment in good working condition.
• Provides excellent customer service and follows through on requests.
