Ascension is seeking a senior claims leader to oversee medical malpractice strategies from initial report through final resolution. You will direct external defense counsel, ensure compliance with internal protocols, and drive financial reporting for high-exposure matters.

You will negotiate settlements, collaborate with risk management, and translate outcomes into improvements in patient safety and liability reduction. This role is remote with full-time duties.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent with 2 years cumulative experience, OR Associate’s/Bachelor’s with 1 year, OR 5 years relevant experience.
• 2 years of leadership or management experience preferred.

Responsabilités

• Medical Malpractice Oversight: Leads the strategy and investigation for complex professional liability and medical malpractice claims from initial report through final resolution.
• Litigation Management: Directs external defense counsel on case action plans, ensuring all litigation adheres to organizational guidelines and protocols.
• Financial & Regulatory Reporting: Establishes precise loss reserves and executes National Claims Committee reports for significant high-exposure matters.
• Direct Settlement Authority: Negotiates directly with plaintiff attorneys and represents the organization at mediations, trials, and depositions to secure favorable settlements.
• Risk Mitigation: Collaborates with Risk Management to translate claim outcomes into "lessons learned" that improve patient safety and reduce future liability.
