Job summary

Munich Reinsurance America, Inc. seeks a 2nd VP, Medical Director to provide medical consulting, oversee underwriting standards, and educate internal and external clients across Life and Disability products.

The role acts as deputy to the Chief Medical Director and may be performed remotely across the United States. The position combines case underwriting, education for underwriters and physicians, and ongoing research to inform product design and risk assessment.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) degree required.
• Clinical experience: 3 years minimum.
• Insurance Medicine experience: 5 years minimum (Reinsurance experience preferred).
• Track record of accomplishment and dedication to the Insurance Medicine industry.
• Current Medical Licensure and continuing education credits as needed per year.
• Board Certification - Internal Medicine or equivalent (required).
• Board Certification - Insurance Medicine (required).
• Professional designations such as FALU, FLMI preferred.
• Proficiency in EKG and stress test interpretation required.
• Ability to embrace technology and actuarial concepts.
• Morbidity Methodology training, advanced level preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review medical and underwriting data to assess risk for Life, Disability, and other lines using Munich Re criteria and market considerations.
• Collaborate with underwriters to prepare underwriting decisions.
