Job summary

The Oncology Institute is seeking a Medical Director to provide clinical expertise in assessing medical necessity, appropriateness, and efficiency of oncology care with a focus on utilization management for case reviews and clinical decision making.

In this collaborative role, you will work with physicians, clinical teams, and operational leaders to support evidence-based, high-quality, cost-effective care delivery across the network and contribute to data-driven insights and policy development.

Qualifications

• MD/DO required with oncology board certification.
• Minimum 5 years of clinical oncology experience.
• 2+ years of Utilization Management experience and data-driven decision making.

Responsibilities

• Conduct medical reviews and determine medical necessity and treatment alignment.
• Review ongoing cancer treatment plans for evidence-based practice.
• Provide clinical guidance balancing quality, outcomes, and cost.
• Liaise with providers, payers, and patients on options and coverage.
• Evaluate data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
• Partner with clinical and operational teams to support value-based care.
• Ensure compliance with policies, regulatory standards, and payer requirements.
• Contribute to development of utilization management protocols for oncology.
