Job summary

Starling Oncology is seeking a Medical Director to provide clinical expertise in utilization management for oncology care. You will review and guide medical necessity decisions, collaborating with physicians, operations, and payers to optimize outcomes and value-based care.

The role requires an MD or DO with Board Certification in Oncology, at least 5 years of oncology experience, and 2+ years in Utilization Management.

Qualifications

MD or DO degree and board certification in Oncology.
Minimum 5 years of clinical oncology experience.
2+ years of Utilization Management experience.
Strong understanding of oncology treatment protocols and reimbursement policies.
Excellent analytical and communication skills; able to work independently in a multidisciplinary setting.

Responsibilities

Conduct medical reviews and make independent clinical decisions on hematology and oncology treatment plans for medical necessity and alignment with guidelines.
Review ongoing cancer treatment plans to ensure alignment with evidence-based medicine.
Provide clinical guidance balancing quality, outcomes, and cost-effectiveness.
Liaise with providers, payers, and patients on treatment options and coverage.
Evaluate data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
Partner with teams to support value-based care and comply with policies.
