Job summary

Syneos Health is seeking a Medical Coding Specialist / Clinical Coder II for a remote role in the United States. The position focuses on encoding adverse events and medical histories using MedDRA and WHOdrug, following SOPs, and generating clarification queries as needed.

The role requires a minimum of 2+ years in pharmacovigilance or related fields, a health science background, and strong medical terminology knowledge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or related health science background.
• 2+ years in pharmacovigilance, clinical research, and/or clinical data management.
• Experience with MedDRA and WHODD preferred.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology and coding practices.

Responsibilities

• Encode adverse events and medical history using MedDRA and WHOdrug.
• Follow coding conventions and SOPs.
• Generate data queries for clarification of potentially discrepant data.
• Collaborate with medical monitors, data management and clinical teams to ensure timely coding.
• Assist in interdepartmental training of new staff as needed.
• Assist in coding data reviews and SAE reconciliation.
