Job summary

Syneos Health in the United States is seeking a Medical Coding Specialist / Clinical Coder II to encode adverse events and medical history using MedDRA and WHOdrug, ensuring coding conventions are followed.

You will collaborate with Clinical Solutions teams, data management and medical monitors to deliver timely, high-quality data and support across drug development projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or related health science background.
  • 2+ years of industry experience in pharmacovigilance, clinical research, and/or clinical data management.
  • Experience with MedDRA and WHODD preferred.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology, clinical trials & coding.
  • Excellent written and oral skills; ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high quality work.

Responsibilities

  • Encode terms reported as adverse events and medical history using standard dictionaries.
  • Code in accordance with departmental conventions and SOPs.
  • Generate queries for data clarification of potentially discrepant data.
  • Collaborate with medical monitors, Clinical and Data Management teams to meet project timelines.
  • Work with coding tools (Medidata RAVE Coder, TMS, Veeva).
  • Assist in interdepartmental training of new staff as needed.

Job Responsibilities
Job Summary

This position is responsible for encoding terms reported as adverse events and medical history as well as prior and concomitant medications using industry accepted dictionaries such as MedDRA and WHOdrug.

Summary Of The Essential Functions Of The Job
  • Coding performed in accordance with departmental coding conventions and company SOPs.
  • The coder will generate queries for clarification of potentially discrepant data.
  • Ability to work in cross-functional team-oriented environments.
  • Assist with data coding consistency reviews and SAE reconciliation, as needed.
  • The Coder will collaborate with medical monitors, Clinical and Data Management team members, as required, to ensure the timely processing of coding, according to project timelines.
  • The coder should have working knowledge of coding tools (ie. Medidata RAVE Coder, TMS, Veeva, etc.)
  • Assist in interdepartmental training of new staff as needed.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelors degree or related health science background.
  • Commensurate experience will be considered in lieu of a 4 year degree.
  • 2+ years industry experience in pharmacovigilance, clinical research, and/or clinical data management required.
  • Experience with MedDRA and WHODD preferred.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology, clinical trials & coding is essential.
  • Excellent written and oral skills and demonstrated ability to work both independently and within cross functional teams.

Salary Range:

$56,400.00 - $95,900.00
