Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking a Remote Medical Coding Technician to review and analyze documentation, correct discrepancies, and resolve pre-bill edits in accordance with AMA, CMS, and payer guidelines. This role supports all coding functions at the Medical Coding 1 level and works with Epic billing systems across outpatient and inpatient settings.

The position offers full-time, 40 hours weekly, with remote work from Wisconsin.

Qualifications

• Proven problem solving and analytical abilities.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Experience interpreting medical documentation and identifying coding discrepancies.
• Familiarity with denial management and payer guidelines.
• Knowledge of AMA, CMS, and CPT coding guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze medical documentation to identify coding discrepancies.
• Correct code selections and educate partners on findings.
• Resolve pre-bill claim edits and respond to coding review requests.
• Research CMS policies for outpatient/inpatient/professional coding.
• Maintain knowledge of Epic billing systems and hospital/clinic coding practices.
