Job summary

Brown University Health is seeking a Professional Coding Specialist to review, interpret, and assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II codes for physician services. You will collaborate with providers and revenue cycle teams to ensure complete and compliant documentation for proper reimbursement.

This role requires 1–3+ years of professional coding experience, knowledge of coding guidelines, and EHR proficiency (Epic preferred).

Qualifications

• Requires 1–3+ years of professional physician-based coding experience.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II coding guidelines.
• Familiarity with HIPAA, payer policies, and compliance standards.

Responsibilities

• Enter coded and abstracted information into coding systems with accurate APC assignments.
• Identify and resolve coding edits and NCCI issues to support correct billing.
• Assign E/M, ICD-10-CM, CPT codes for clinic visits and ensure documentation supports codes.
