Job summary

Qualifications

• AHIMA or AAPC certification (CCA, CCS, RHIA, RHIT, CPC-H/COC, CIC, CCS-P, CPC) must be maintained annually.
• Minimum 2+ years of experience with ICD-10, CPT, and modifiers.
• Minimum 2+ years of experience in acute surgery.
• Proficiency with Windows PC, Excel, and various EMR systems.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy and communication.

Responsibilities

• Identify appropriate ICD-10, CPT and modifier assignments for facility services in line with coding guidelines.
• Adhere to coding ethics and client guidelines.
• Maintain performance in coding quality and productivity as directed.
• Understand APC codes and Medicare policies.
• Query physicians when appropriate.
• Keep up-to-date coding knowledge and participate in department meetings.
