Job summary

Sanford Health, a leader in rural healthcare, seeks a Medical Coding Specialist to support providers in coding diagnoses and procedures for clinic, ASC and hospital services. You will apply ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and monitor NCCI edits and denial management while ensuring accurate, timely coding.

Remote work with a flexible schedule and comprehensive benefits. Requires current coding certifications; certification within one year if not already held.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Health Information Technology or coding certification required.
• Proficient with ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS coding systems.
• Knowledge of coding guidelines and payer guidelines.
• Certification within 1 year of hire if not already certified.

Responsibilities

• Code medical records using ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS per guidelines.
• Review and audit documentation to ensure proper reimbursement.
• Explain coding guidelines to physicians and staff.
• Maintain knowledge of NCCI edits and Medicare workflows.
• Support denial management and appeals processes.
• Work independently in a remote healthcare setting.
