MaineGuide is seeking a meticulous Medical Coder for a remote role that supports nationwide applicants. You will translate clinical documentation into ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS codes, ensuring compliance and accurate DRG/APC assignment.

Filed with CMS guidelines, you will review records, abstract data, and query physicians when needed. The ideal candidate has 2+ years in professional coding and AHIMA/AAPC credentials, and a meticulous, ethical approach to coding accuracy.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of Medical Coding experience required.
• Experience with Professional Fee Coding.
• Experience with EHR systems.

Responsibilities

• Assign principal and secondary diagnoses and procedures from medical records.
• Review discharge summaries, notes, reports and records to determine diagnoses and procedures.
• Code following Official Coding Guidelines and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure correct DRG, APC, or payment tier assignment.
• Abstract data and enter into the billing system with accuracy.
• Identify missing documentation and generate physician queries if needed.
• Meet coding quality and quantity expectations.
