Job summary

Vitruvian Health seeks an experienced Remote Medical Coding Associate to review records, assign and verify CPT/ICD10 codes, and ensure compliance with regulations. The position emphasizes handling coding edits, denials, and ongoing education for providers, while safeguarding PHI and adhering to HIPAA policies.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma Required.
• Licensure: Base Coding Certification (CPC, CPC-H, CCA, CCS, CCS-P) with two additional specialty credentials.
• Experience: At least 1 year of coding Evaluation and Management services; surgical coding experience preferred.
• Knowledge of ICDCM/PCS & CPT coding systems and medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Audits providers' documentation to ensure accurate coding.
• Assists with training providers on documentation rules and regulations.
• Resolves billing issues related to accurate coding.
• Codes inpatient and outpatient encounters, both OP and IP as applicable.
• Keeps knowledge updated on coding guidelines and payer policies.
• Communicates coding information clearly to providers and staff.
• Drives corrections and resubmissions for denials when needed.
• Reviews work queues to ensure timely charge review and claim creation.
