Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree is preferred.
• Minimum of one year physician coding or medical records experience.
• Certifications: CPC, COC (CPC-H), CCS, CCS-P or RHIT recommended.

Responsibilities

• Review and audit documentation to verify professional service codes and levels.
• Query providers when documentation is missing or unclear for proper coding.
• Summarize audit findings and train providers on coding and documentation.
• Review and assign CPT codes and modifiers for procedures performed.
