Job summary

National Jewish Health is seeking a remote Medical Coder responsible for accurate coding and billing of inpatient and outpatient professional services based on documentation in the medical record. This role uses CPT and ICD coding conventions in line with AHA, CMS, and internal guidelines.

You will review documentation, query providers when needed, and summarize audit findings to support accurate reimbursement. Remote-work arrangement requires Colorado residence.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate’s degree in Health Information Technology, Medical or Business field preferred.
• Certification/licensure: CPC, COC (CPC-H), CCA, CCS, CCS-P, or RHIT required.

Responsibilities

• Code and bill inpatient and outpatient professional services.
• Review documentation for CPT/ICD coding accuracy.
• Query providers when documentation is missing or unclear.
• Summarize audit findings and assist in provider education for coding requirements.
• Assign CPT codes and modifiers for procedures performed on- and off-campus.
