Job summary

Labela is seeking certified U.S. medical coders for high-level coding and documentation consulting. You will serve as a subject matter expert to validate, refine, and audit the coding logic and documentation reasoning of frontier AI models.

Qualifications

• Active certification from AAPC or AHIMA (CPC or CCS).
• Minimum of 2 years production coding, auditing, or CDI experience.
• Location: United States-based.
• Ability to cite guidelines or payer policies supporting each decision.
• Flexible, project-based hours around a full-time coding schedule.

Responsibilities

• Coding Logic Auditing: Review and refine AI-generated code assignments to ensure alignment with ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS Level.
• High-Complexity Validation: Provide expert-level ground truth for full chart abstractions, including E/M level selection, modifier application, MS-DRG and APC assignment, and HCC risk adjustment capture.
• Compliance Oversight: Identify unbundling, upcoding, undercoding, NCCI edit violations, and medical necessity gaps in AI outputs that could create audit exposure or claim denials.
• Strategic Consulting: Advise on the development of AI-driven coding, CDI, and revenue cycle support tools across care settings.
