Job summary

Labela is seeking certified U.S. medical coders for high-level coding and documentation consulting. This remote, flexible role is designed for practicing coders to influence AI-driven medical coding accuracy at scale.

You will validate, refine, and audit coding logic across ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS, provide expert-level chart abstractions (E/M, modifiers, MS-DRG), and identify compliance gaps to prevent denials. Remote; must be based in the United States.

Qualifications

• Active certification from AAPC or AHIMA (CPC or CCS).
• At least 2 years of production coding, auditing, or CDI experience in inpatient, outpatient, or professional settings.
• Based in the United States.
• Ability to cite guidelines or payer policies supporting each decision.
• Flexible, project-based hours around a full-time coding schedule.

Responsibilities

• Coding logic auditing across ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS.
• High-complexity validation including E/M level, modifiers, MS-DRG, APC, and HCC risk adjustment.
• Identify unbundling, upcoding, undercoding, NCCI violations, and medical necessity gaps.
• Advise on AI-driven coding, CDI, and revenue cycle tools across care settings.
