Job summary

UCFS Healthcare in Connecticut is seeking a Medical Billing Specialist to support the RCM department by managing payer denials and rejections and identifying areas for improvement in registration and coding.

The role requires 3 years of medical billing experience, knowledge of HIPAA and Medicaid/Medicare rules, and proficiency with EPIC and Microsoft Office. This is a full-time position with standard weekday hours.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 3 years experience in medical billing.
• FQHC experience preferred.
• Experience working in a remote setting.
• CPC certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Consistently follows up on all unpaid claims utilizing WQ and aging reports.
• Resolves claim denials by contacting insurance, submitting appeals, and informing Billing Manager of denial trends.
• Corrects and resubmits claim rejections promptly.
• Collaborates with the billing team and Billing Manager to address coding issues.
• Answers patient questions related to billing.
• Manages work queues assigned by Billing Manager.
