Job summary

Modena Allergy + Asthma is seeking an Insurance Collector/Medical Billing Specialist for a fully remote role in the United States. You will manage insurance accounts receivable, follow up on unpaid and denied claims, and work with providers, insurers, and patients to ensure accurate reimbursement.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in medical billing, CPT/ICD-10-CM/HCPCS knowledge, and experience with denials and appeals. Proficiency with EMR and practice management systems is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of medical billing and insurance collections experience.
• Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS coding.
• Experience with denial management and appeals.
• Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial plans.

Responsibilities

• Follow up on outstanding insurance claims with commercial payers, Medicare, Medicaid, and managed care organizations.
• Investigate and resolve denied, rejected, and underpaid claims.
• Submit claim corrections, reconsiderations, and appeals with supporting documentation.
• Review EOBs, ERA, and payer communications.
• Monitor aging reports and prioritize accounts for collection activities.
• Verify patient eligibility, benefits, referrals, and authorization requirements.
• Ensure accurate reimbursement for allergy and related services.
• Collaborate with providers and front-office staff to resolve billing discrepancies.
• Document all collection efforts in the practice management system.
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA and payer guidelines.
• Identify billing trends and opportunities for process improvement.
• Meet established productivity and collections targets.
