Job summary

For People, a team of technologists improving government digital services, is seeking a Medicaid Policy and Program Strategist. You will be the operational owner of how we engage with state and federal Medicaid partners, gather insights, and support program improvements. You will design workflows, foster relationships, and help ensure insights inform our digital services work.

This is a 6-month independent contractor (1099) position, 100% remote across the United States. Candidates must be U.S.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of working in or with Medicaid programs at the state or federal level.
• Strong written and spoken communication abilities with warmth and clarity.
• Ability to translate dense policy and technical concepts into accessible guidance.
• Diplomatic, collaborative, and effective with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Act as translator between policy experts, state administrators, and federal stakeholders.
• Collaborate across policy, product, and engineering to align goals with delivery realities.
• Manage and oversee state Medicaid partner support channels.
• Identify opportunities for process or product improvements to federal Medicaid data tools.
• Build and improve interactions with Medicaid partners for consistency and clarity.
• Identify operational trends and decide when leadership input is needed.
• Coordinate with federal partners to keep cross-agency efforts aligned.
• Advocate for Medicaid program needs and translate insights back to product and engineering teams.
