Job summary

Milliman’s Healthcare Data Analytics team is seeking a Healthcare Data Analyst to support Medicaid Finance & Policy projects. You will work with claims data across hospital and physician services, develop data models, and contribute to policy research and client-ready materials.

The role emphasizes strong analytical depth, Excel proficiency, and ability to communicate technical results. It is remote with preference for candidates in the United States.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher is required.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience analyzing large data sets.
• Experience with database management and statistical programming tools (SAS, SQL, Python).
• Ability to write SAS code without GUIs; SQL/Python/Databricks preferred.
• Detail-oriented analytical work with strong communication skills.
• Advanced Excel skills for data analysis (SumIfs, Index/Match, Nested If, VBA).
• Experience analyzing Medicaid claims and healthcare data.
• Experience providing consulting to Medicaid or health agencies is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving skills and independent troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Work with claims datasets across hospital, physician, and other services.
• Analyze service-related trend data and public data (e.g., BLS).
• Design, develop, and use data models.
• Review, evaluate, and summarize data model outputs.
• Assist with Medicaid policy research and analysis.
• Draft technical documentation and client reports and presentations.
• Support quality control and review of others’ work.
