Job description

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Estimator to support large-scale data center and mission-critical construction projects.

This is an opportunity for an estimator who understands how major mechanical systems actually come together in the field—from chilled-water and mechanical piping to pumps, equipment, valves, supports, insulation, and associated infrastructure.

Why This Opportunity?

Data center construction is one of the fastest-growing areas of the construction industry, and mechanical infrastructure is critical to keeping these facilities operational.

You’ll be part of a team that brings estimating, engineering, procurement, and construction together to develop solutions that can actually be built.

What You'll Do
  • Develop conceptual and detailed estimates for mechanical scopes on data center and mission-critical projects
  • Perform quantity takeoffs from drawings, specifications, equipment schedules, and BIM/model information
  • Estimate chilled-water piping, hydronic systems, mechanical/process piping, pumps, valves, fittings, supports, insulation, and mechanical equipment
  • Develop labor hours, productivity assumptions, material pricing, equipment costs, indirect costs, and field requirements
  • Obtain and evaluate pricing from suppliers, equipment vendors, fabricators, and subcontractors
  • Review drawings and specifications for scope gaps, constructability concerns, conflicts, exclusions, and project risks
  • Prepare estimate assumptions, clarifications, exclusions, and scope documentation
  • Participate in bid reviews, scope reconciliation, value analysis, constructability reviews, and preconstruction meetings
  • Evaluate site logistics, project schedules, labor availability, productivity, material handling, and other project-specific cost drivers
  • Coordinate mechanical estimates with civil/structural, electrical, instrumentation and controls, engineering, procurement, and construction teams
  • Identify opportunities for prefabrication, modularization, and spool fabrication to improve cost, schedule, quality, and field productivity
  • Assist with procurement strategies for long-lead mechanical equipment and critical materials
  • Support project handoff after award to ensure the operations team understands the estimate, quantities, assumptions, and execution strategy
What We're Looking For
  • 5+ years of mechanical estimating experience in industrial, commercial, mission-critical, or large-scale construction
  • Strong experience estimating mechanical piping systems and equipment
  • Knowledge of piping materials, valves, fittings, supports, insulation, equipment installation, and fabrication
  • Experience performing detailed quantity takeoffs and developing labor and material pricing
  • Understanding of construction means and methods, labor productivity, field execution, equipment requirements, and indirect costs
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, specifications, equipment schedules, and construction documents
  • Experience obtaining and evaluating vendor and subcontractor quotations
  • Strong Excel and estimating software skills
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
