Job summary

Mercor is seeking a contract Mechanical Engineer to evaluate AI-generated mechanical designs, technical drawings, and system specifications for quality and accuracy. Remote work with 20+ hours per week over a 4–6 week duration, starting immediately.

You will work asynchronously with AI research teams to improve model performance, ensure design rigor, and provide expert feedback while meeting deadlines in a distributed setup.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in mechanical engineering roles.
• Experience with designing, evaluating, or maintaining mechanical products and systems.
• Ability to commit 20+ hours per week.
• Strong written English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate AI-generated mechanical designs, technical drawings, and system specifications for quality and accuracy.
• Compare AI-generated responses based on engineering rigor, design soundness, and specification precision.
• Review mechanical engineering scenarios involving equipment design and system troubleshooting, providing expert feedback.
• Work independently and asynchronously to improve AI model performance and meet deadlines.
• Collaborate with AI research teams to enhance training data quality and downstream performance.
