Job summary

Mercor is seeking experienced mechanical engineers to join a premier AI lab's GenAI team to help advance frontier AI models. You will review engineering tasks, write instruction specs, and craft reference solutions that define what "correct" looks like, while collaborating with research and program management teams.

This 2–3 month W-2 engagement is remote within the United States, with a strong possibility of extension based on performance.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
• Experience: 5+ years of hands‑on mechanical engineering in industry with real design/analyses.
• Domain depth: ownership of components or systems, FEAs or CFD analyses, design reviews.
• Tools/standards: proficient with SolidWorks/CATIA/NX/Creo/AutoCAD/ANSYS/Abaqus/MATLAB; familiar with ASME/ASTM/ISO/GD&T.
• Seniority: progression toward senior/lead role; PE is a plus but not required.
• AI fluency: hands‑on use of large language models in professional work.
• Availability: able to commit to 40 hours per week for 2–3 months with possible extension.
• Excellent written communication.

Responsibilities

• Data QA and reviews: vet the quality of mechanical tasks and model outputs.
• Instruction specs and reference solutions: write specs and worked solutions.
• Benchmarks and domain depth: design tasks across mechanical design, thermal/fluids, structural analysis, manufacturing, and controls.
• Calibration: align standards with client researchers and translate tacit judgment into explicit criteria.
