Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to own end-to-end mechanical designs for quantum infrastructure tech. Lead concepts through drawings, perform thermal and structural analyses, and translate requirements into manufacturable solutions using CAD/simulation tools in a fast-paced deep-tech setting.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, support cryogenic systems, and contribute to high-tech products in a startup environment.

Qualifications

• Advanced mechanical design experience with ownership of complex systems.
• Own designs from concept through drawing release to print-ready status.
• Strong proficiency in heat transfer and thermodynamics.
• Deep understanding of heat transfer in cryogenic engineering.
• Experience with structural evaluation and design analysis.
• Proficient with FEA/CFD tools and interpreting results.
• Proficient CAD modeling in SolidWorks, Creo, NX, Onshape.
• 7+ years of mechanical engineering experience; not a new graduate.
• Available during 8:00 AM–3:00 PM MST for collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Own mechanical designs from concept through print-ready release.
• Advance designs to detailed, print-ready state including models and drawings.
• Perform heat transfer analysis and thermal modeling to optimize system performance.
• Analyze heat transfer mechanisms in cryogenic challenges and apply insights.
• Conduct structural evaluation to verify strength and safety.
• Use FEA/CFD tools to simulate performance.
• Develop high-quality 3D CAD models and assemblies with tolerances.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on complex problems.
• Support cryogenic and vacuum system projects within quantum infrastructure.
