Job summary

Steam Management, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Designer to develop accurate 2D/3D designs and construction drawings using Autodesk Plant 3D, Navisworks, and Revit. The role emphasizes LiDAR data integration for 3D models and requires travel nationwide, with remote work when not on site.

Responsibilities include field surveys, LiDAR scans, drawing production, and collaboration with engineers, project managers, and field personnel. 30% travel anticipated.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Design or related field.
• 5+ years in mechanical design, piping design, CAD, or drafting.
• Proficient in Autodesk Plant 3D, Navisworks, and Revit.
• Experience with LiDAR scans and point clouds.
• Knowledge of steam, condensate, heating hot water, chilled water, and compressed air systems.
• Ability to identify interferences and constructability issues during design.
• Ability to work independently/remotely with clear design direction.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to safety rules and ensure project compliance.
• Develop mechanical piping and equipment layouts using Autodesk Plant 3D and Navisworks.
• Create 3D models from field data, LiDAR scans, and existing drawings.
• Produce construction drawings: piping layouts, P&IDs, isometrics, and wiring diagrams.
• Perform LiDAR scanning and register data into designs.
• Support steam system surveys and facility walkdowns.
• Incorporate engineer direction into drawings and models.
• Assist with material takeoffs, field verification, and drawing revisions.
• Travel as needed; approx. 25%.
• Home office with high-speed internet required.
