Placements24 is seeking a Remote Mechanical Design Engineer specializing in Thermal Systems to design cooling/heating solutions for advanced products. You will work independently and with a distributed team from concept to detailed design, using CFD simulations and CAD tools.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of thermal design experience, strong CFD/thermal analysis skills, and proficiency with SolidWorks or Inventor.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in thermodynamics or thermal sciences.
• 3-5 years of experience in mechanical design focused on thermal systems engineering.
• Proficiency in thermal analysis and CFD simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS Fluent, COMSOL, Icepak).
• Expertise in 3D CAD software for mechanical design (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor).
• Strong grasp of heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and thermodynamics.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize mechanical thermal management systems (heat sinks, heat exchangers, cooling loops, ventilation).
• Run detailed CFD analyses to predict performance using tools like ANSYS Fluent or COMSOL.
• Create 3D CAD models and 2D drawings for thermal components and assemblies in SolidWorks or Inventor.
• Perform hand calculations to support simulations and validate designs.
• Collaborate with remote cross-functional teams via virtual tools.
• Select materials and processes for thermal needs considering cost and reliability.
• Document design processes, analyses, and test results thoroughly.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize mechanical systems for thermal management, including heat sinks, heat exchangers, fluid cooling loops, and ventilation systems.
• Conduct detailed thermal and fluid dynamics simulations using CFD software (e.g., ANSYS Fluent, COMSOL) to predict and improve system performance.
• Create precise 3D CAD models and 2D manufacturing drawings for thermal components and assemblies using industry-standard software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor).
