About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and visionary Remote Electrical Design Lead to guide their electrical engineering efforts from afar. This leadership role will involve overseeing the design process, mentoring a remote team of engineers, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality electrical solutions for innovative projects. You will be instrumental in setting design standards, fostering a collaborative remote work culture, and driving technical excellence. This position offers significant autonomy and the opportunity to make a substantial impact on project outcomes, working from anywhere while contributing to key initiatives that may impact operations in the Paarl region and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a remote team of electrical design engineers, providing technical direction and performance feedback.
• Develop and enforce electrical design standards, best practices, and quality control procedures for all projects.
• Oversee the conceptualization, design, and development of complex electrical systems and infrastructure.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project management, mechanical engineering, and software development, in a virtual setting.
• Review and approve design documents, schematics, and technical specifications to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Stay abreast of new technologies and industry trends, integrating them into design strategies for continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in electrical design and engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
• Proven experience in managing remote engineering teams and projects effectively.
• Expertise in electrical system design, power distribution, control systems, and relevant simulation software.
• Strong understanding of international electrical codes and standards.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, adapted for remote interaction.
