Job summary

Zekai is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for a 100% remote contractor role. You will create and interpret manufacturing-ready drawings, translate complex design requirements into precise CAD specifications, and produce high-quality 2D/3D models across multiple platforms including SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Onshape, Inventor, Creo, NX, and FreeCAD.

Qualifications

• Extensive industry experience in mechanical design with manufacturing readiness.
• Proven CAD proficiency across multiple platforms and formats.
• Solid understanding of GD&T, tolerancing, and technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Create and interpret professional engineering drawings for manufacturing.
• Translate design requirements into clear CAD specifications with accuracy.
• Produce detailed 2D and 3D models using SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Onshape, Inventor, Creo, NX and reference FreeCAD.
• Apply GD&T and dimensioning principles to deliverables.
• Document manufacturing processes and design intent clearly.
• Review and improve existing engineering documentation for manufacturability.
• Contribute to design for manufacture (DFM) improvements for real-world production.
