Job summary

TerraPower, LLC is seeking a Remote Mechanical Analysis and Methods Engineer on a 12-month contract to develop advanced analysis methods and automation tooling for reactor core components. You will perform FEA, write documentation, and support software verification and validation efforts.

The role requires a strong foundation in solid mechanics, Python coding, and effective technical writing, with a focus on delivering high-quality results on an aggressive schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering with 3+ years of experience.
• Strong finite element analysis experience, especially Abaqus.
• Expert understanding of finite element methods and solid mechanics.
• Proficient coding skills in Python.
• Strong technical writing and communication skills.
• Ability to meet aggressive schedules and contribute proactively.

Responsibilities

• Analyze reactor core and core components for mechanical behavior using FEA.
• Develop analysis methods for sodium fast reactor core mechanics.
• Develop Python tooling to automate finite element model generation.
• Support software V&V with documentation and test reports.
• Collaborate with test engineers to ensure validation via testing.
