Job summary

Averro is seeking a Mechanical Analysis and Methods Engineer for a remote role in the United States. The position focuses on advanced nuclear energy systems and requires strong FEA with Abaqus, plus Python automation skills.

Ideal candidates will have a mechanical or aerospace engineering background, 3+ years of relevant experience, and proven ability to communicate method details and test results clearly. This contract role offers benefits and opportunities to extend beyond 12 months.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent with 3+ years of relevant experience.
• Expert-level knowledge of finite element methods and solid mechanics theory (statics, dynamics, strength of materials).
• Hands-on FEA experience, including nonlinear analysis; Abaqus strongly preferred.
• Proficiency in Python for engineering automation and scripting.
• Strong technical writing skills for documentation of methods, software requirements, and test reports.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver on aggressive schedules with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Perform FEA of reactor core and core component mechanical behavior using Abaqus.
• Develop analysis methods for predicting mechanical behavior of sodium fast reactor core structures.
• Build Python-based automation tools to generate finite element models for core and component analysis.
• Support software verification and validation by authoring requirements documentation and test reports.
• Collaborate with test engineers to develop test requirements, acceptance criteria, and pre/post-test analysis for mechanical code validation.
