Job summary

STEAM the Streets invites a Marine Science Storytelling Fellow to document marine research activities and translate them into engaging, public-facing content. The role blends field labs, remote work, and occasional in-person visits to Massachusetts and Connecticut, with mentorship from project partners and staff.

The fellow will produce videos, conduct scientist interviews, and develop stories that connect offshore wind, climate solutions, and environmental research with youth audiences.

Qualifications

  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Interest in storytelling, journalism, content creation, media production, environmental or marine science.
  • Experience creating videos, social media content, photography, blogs, podcasts, or other digital media.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to learn about marine science, offshore wind, and environmental research.

Responsibilities

  • Visit research labs and field sites to document research activities.
  • Produce short-form educational videos highlighting findings and concepts.
  • Interview scientists and researchers to translate complex ideas for public audiences.
  • Create career pathway profiles and researcher spotlights.
  • Develop blog or newsletter updates and capture photos and interview content.
  • Handle behind-the-scenes content of laboratory work and field activities.
