Job summary

X4 Engineering is seeking a Managing Director, Certifications to lead the Food Assurance business unit. This fully remote role includes monthly travel to the US headquarters and ownership of the unit's P&L, delivery, and growth strategy.

The ideal candidate brings deep knowledge of food safety certification schemes (BRC, SQF; PrimusGFS a plus), audit delivery expertise, and a proven track record in leading teams and managing financial performance.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of food safety certification and audit schemes, especially BRC and SQF; familiarity with PrimusGFS or similar schemes is a plus.
• Auditing experience is preferred but not mandatory; understand how audits are delivered and how certification programs operate.
• Experience managing or reporting on business financials, ideally with some P&L responsibility.
• Proven ability to lead and develop a team, including management through others.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the Certifications business as a standalone unit, including financial reporting, auditor utilization, technical delivery and team leadership.
• Lead, support and develop the certification team, including the program management function.
• Manage auditor utilization, scheduling, capacity planning and backup coverage across the audit team.
• Own P&L reporting (monthly/quarterly) for the business and balance service quality with sustainable growth.
• Identify opportunities to expand beyond core GFSI audit schemes (e.g. PrimusGFS).
