Job summary
Cognizant is seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer to support core banking applications with strong COBOL, JCL, and VSAM expertise. The role focuses on designing, developing, testing, and maintaining banking solutions across Deposits, Loans, Customer/Account Management, General Ledger, and Tax systems.
You will analyze requirements, implement enhancements, and support batch jobs and production deployments in collaboration with analysts, architects, testers, and stakeholders.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on mainframe development with COBOL/JCL/VSAM.
- Experience in core banking modules such as deposits, loans, and GL.
- Familiarity with mainframe tools like Endevor, Xpediter, and Easytrieve.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, enhance, test, and maintain mainframe applications supporting core banking operations.
- Analyze business and technical requirements and translate them into effective mainframe solutions.
- Develop and support batch processing jobs using COBOL, JCL, VSAM, and other mainframe technologies.
- Perform code debugging, troubleshooting, defect resolution, and production support activities.
- Collaborate with business analysts, architects, testers, and stakeholders to implement system enhancements.
- Participate in code reviews, unit testing, SIT/UAT support, and deployment activities.
