Job summary

Cognizant is seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer with strong COBOL-based mainframe expertise to support core banking systems. The role emphasizes batch processing, debugging, and production support across Deposits, Loans, GL, and Tax modules.

Responsibilities include analyzing requirements, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and delivering high‑quality mainframe solutions aligned with banking objectives. This remote US-based position offers flexibility and competitive compensation.

Qualifications

Minimum 5+ years of hands-on Mainframe development in COBOL/JCL/VSAM and batch processing.
Strong experience in Core Banking applications including deposits, loans, customer/account management, GL and tax systems.
Experience with mainframe tools such as Endevor, Xpediter, and Easytrieve.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, enhance, test, and maintain mainframe applications supporting core banking operations.
Analyze requirements and translate them into effective mainframe solutions.
Develop and support batch processing jobs using COBOL, JCL, VSAM, and related technologies.
Perform code debugging, troubleshooting, defect resolution, and production support.
Collaborate with BAs, architects, testers and stakeholders to implement enhancements.
