Job summary

CAI is seeking a highly skilled Mainframe Developer to join its IT team on a full-time remote contract basis. The role requires extensive COBOL, JCL, NATURAL, and ADABAS experience to support multiple client projects and modernization efforts.

You will work on legacy systems, data interfaces, and system integration, participating in design reviews, testing, and deployments while ensuring high-quality technical documentation and troubleshooting across batch and online applications.

Qualifications

5+ years in enterprise mainframe dev using COBOL.
5+ years JCL development and job scheduling.
3+ years NATURAL/ADABAS experience.
5+ years with TSO/ISPF or similar tools.
3+ years AFP, PAGEDEF, FORMDEF, OVERLAY tech.
Strong debugging and problem solving for batch/online apps.
Experience with data feeds and legacy system integrations.

Responsibilities

Develop, enhance, and maintain COBOL, NATURAL, JCL programs for multiple client projects.
Support legacy mainframe apps and integration with taxation and client systems.
Provide code walkthroughs, analysis, and documentation for modernization teams.
Design, test, and maintain batch and online mainframe apps.
Troubleshoot production issues, root cause analysis and fixes.
Support ADABAS databases, file structures, and data access methods.
Create data feeds and interfaces between legacy and modern platforms.
Participate in system design reviews and code reviews.
Generate technical docs: specs, job flows, architecture diagrams, data definitions.
Assist in testing: system, integration, UAT, and deployments.
