Job summary

CTG is seeking a Mainframe COBOL/IMS Developer for our client. Location is Remote with a 6-month duration. You will develop, maintain, and enhance mainframe applications supporting batch payments, vouchers, and financial reporting.

Design COBOL programs with IMS DB and MQ, upgrade MQ COBOL programs, and migrate legacy code to modern repositories. The role requires 10+ years in mainframe COBOL/IMS, strong MQ expertise, and proven production support skills.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of Mainframe programming experience.
• 10+ years with COBOL-based mainframe applications.
• Extensive hands-on IMS DB and IBM MQ experience.
• Experience maintaining, troubleshooting, deploying, and supporting mission-critical mainframe applications in production.
• Experience upgrading MQ COBOL programs and MQ server migrations.
• Experience reverse engineering legacy COBOL/IMS apps, including sources unavailable.
• Experience documenting business rules, processes, and workflows.
• Experience migrating legacy code to modern repositories.
• Strong IMS administration and development experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, enhance, troubleshoot, and support mainframe applications for batch payments, vouchers, and financial reporting.
• Design COBOL programs using IMS DB and MQ technologies.
• Upgrade MQ COBOL programs and support MQ server migrations.
• Reverse engineer legacy COBOL/IMS apps with limited/no source code.
• Support and enhance ETBS MQ programs and integrations with WMIS and Workday.
• Analyze applications to document business rules, logic, dependencies, and workflows.
• Create and maintain technical and process documentation.
• Migrate legacy code into modern repositories and development environments.
• Perform IMS development and administration activities, including troubleshooting and performance support.
• Collaborate with teams and stakeholders to resolve production issues and implement enhancements.
• Participate in testing, deployment, and implementation ensuring stability and standards.
