Job summary

TSNE MissionWorks / MFCP is seeking a Local Food Switchboard Operator focused on Community Outreach in Maine. This role emphasizes building local relationships, coordinating with producers, schools, and community partners to activate the Local Food Switchboard within a defined region.

The position is remote, part-time (20 hours/week), with travel within Maine as appropriate. Applicants with experience in school nutrition and food-system networks are encouraged, and compensation ranges from

Qualifications

• Experience coordinating value chains across producers to institutions.
• Strong relationship-building and community engagement skills.
• Experience with school nutrition procurement or Farm & Sea to School is preferred.
• Ability to work in northern/central/eastern Maine.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a key community/sectoral connector among producers, fishers, processors, distributors, institutional buyers, and other food-system interest-holders, with attention to K–12 school markets.
• Draw on knowledge of school nutrition operations to identify local sourcing opportunities.
• Facilitate relationships across the supply chain to move local products into institutional markets.
• Support coordination related to aggregation, seasonality, storage, processing, transportation, and distribution.
• Identify barriers related to regulations, procurement requirements, infrastructure, market access, or other system conditions and map pathways forward.
• Develop and maintain trust-based relationships with regional food-system interest-holders.
