Job summary

Maine Food Convergence Project (MFCP) seeks a part-time Local Food Switchboard Operator focused on Community Outreach to activate and develop the Switchboard within Maine, bringing deep local relationships and food-system knowledge to the role.

This remote position emphasizes strengthening farm- and sea-to-school connections, coordinating with producers, schools, and institutions, and bridging gaps in local procurement.

Qualifications

• Expertise in value chain coordination.
• Experience developing deep connections within food production, fisheries/aquaculture, processing, distribution, or related food-system sectors.
• Experience working within school nutrition departments, school nutrition markets, or institutional food procurement.
• Experience living and/or working in northern, central, or eastern Maine.
• Ability to build relationships with diverse communities historically underrepresented in food-system decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate community and/or sectoral relationships among producers, institutions, and distributors.
• Support coordination related to aggregation, seasonality, storage, processing, transportation, and distribution.
• Translate community needs into actionable Switchboard usage and listings.
• Deliver onboarding and orientation to regional Switchboard users.
• Provide accessible support considering varying levels of digital access and language needs.
