Job summary

Hitachi Energy’s Service Business is seeking an LTC Field Service Technician to perform specialized field service work on Load Tap Changers and associated transformer equipment across the United States. You will install, maintain, and troubleshoot LTCs at customer sites and develop expertise in LTC operation.

This role requires hands-on installation, maintenance, and diagnostics, with travel and safety compliance as core responsibilities. A strong background in transformer systems is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; advanced post-secondary education or 5+ years field service experience preferred.
• Experience in utility or power industry field service.
• Technical proficiency in LTC operation, transformer assembly, electrical testing, controls, or oil processing.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair Load Tap Changers (LTCs) and transformer components.
• Perform electrical testing and diagnostics on LTCs and related equipment.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues in field environments.
• Execute scheduled and unscheduled maintenance for LTCs.
• Interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals for service tasks.
• Prepare detailed field reports and communicate findings to management and customers.
• Operate heavy machinery and follow safety protocols.
• Support cross-functional teams during service projects.
