Job summary

Hitachi Energy in the United States is seeking an Associate Load Tap Changer (LTC) Technician to inspect, maintain, and repair LTCs and transformer equipment used on the power grid. You will gain hands-on exposure to LTC maintenance, transformer service, electrical testing, controls, and oil processing while building technical knowledge and safe work practices.

Qualifications

• Must have work authorization to work in the United States.
• High School Diploma or GED required; technical schooling preferred.
• Technical school, trade school, military training, or coursework in electrical/mechanical fields is a plus.
• Previous field service, maintenance, or utilities experience is beneficial but not required.
• Basic computer skills and ability to learn company software systems.
• Valid Driver's License required.
• Ability to travel extensively throughout the United States.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical and electrical work on Load Tap Changers (LTCs) and transformer equipment under supervision.
• Assist with preventive maintenance, inspections, repairs, upgrades, and field service activities.
• Support electrical testing and diagnostics to identify issues and improve reliability.
• Assist with oil processing and oil handling equipment.
• Read and interpret procedures, drawings, blueprints, and technical documents.
• Complete daily activity reports and service/customer documentation accurately.
• Document field activities and equipment condition using digital tools.
• Collaborate with field crews, management, engineering teams, and customers to execute projects.
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
