Job summary

Meta seeks an experienced professional to lead the company's local government affairs efforts across the United States in support of our data center site strategy. You will engage with local policymakers, build strategies, and advance data center priorities while strengthening community relationships.

This role requires 8+ years in public policy and travel up to 80%, with remote work available to candidates based in Louisiana or Texas.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in political science, business/strategy, economics, legal, communications, public relations, or related field
• 8+ years of experience in state or local public policy, advocacy, or government affairs
• Experience with the political process, policymakers, and stakeholders in our data center site locations
• Knowledge of technology, infrastructure, data center, and economic development policy and the advocacy landscape in region
• Experience working cross-functionally
• Demonstrated experience creating and implementing advocacy campaigns directly relevant to state and local government, including achieving short- and long-term milestones related to advancing policy, political, and/or advocacy goals
• Creative problem-solving, negotiation, and multi-tasking skills in time-sensitive settings
• Experience communicating nuanced concepts to a wide array of audiences

Responsibilities

• Lead Meta's local government affairs efforts across current and future data center sites in the United States.
• Build and execute a local government affairs strategy for the region across cities, counties, municipalities, and regional bodies.
• Work with local policymakers to advance data center infrastructure investment, permitting, and economic development.
• Monitor the political environment and identify opportunities to advance local policies that benefit the company and communities.
• Partner with Infrastructure and Data Center teams to align policy engagement with site development timelines.
• Collaborate with industry groups, nonprofits, and associations to promote economic development and open internet policies.
• Engage with chambers of commerce, industry associations, non-profits, and civil society groups to advance priorities.
• Keep cross-functional partners updated on local policy developments.
• Manage relationships with policymakers, contract lobbyists, and regional trade associations.
• Willingness to travel up to 80% of the time.
