Job summary

Meta seeks an experienced policy leader to drive local government affairs across the United States, supporting Meta's data center site strategy through policy engagement with cities, counties, and regional bodies.

The role requires 8+ years in state/local policy, strong knowledge of technology and infrastructure policy, cross-functional collaboration, and experience with advocacy campaigns. This remote role is open to candidates based in Texas or Louisiana with frequent travel.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in state or local public policy, advocacy, or government affairs.
• Experience with the political process, policymakers, and stakeholders in data center site locations.
• Knowledge of technology, infrastructure, data center, and economic development policy and the advocacy landscape in the region.
• Experience working cross-functionally and managing multiple priorities.
• Experience creating and implementing advocacy campaigns with milestones for policy/advocacy goals.
• Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and multi-tasking skills in time-sensitive settings.
• Experience communicating nuanced concepts to diverse audiences.
• Experience managing contract lobbyists and trade associations.
• Experience with data center, infrastructure siting, or large-scale capital project policy and permitting.
• Familiarity with local government and technology policy/advocacy landscape in the region.
• Ability to integrate AI tools to optimize workflows and drive measurable impact.
• Experience adhering to responsible AI practices (risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality checks).
• Ongoing AI skill development (prompt engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with AI technologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead the company’s local government affairs across the United States, supporting data center site strategy.
• Engage with local governments—cities, counties, municipalities, and regional bodies—to advance policy priorities.
• Build and strengthen relationships in communities where Meta builds and operates data centers.
• Demonstrate deep knowledge of internet, technology, infrastructure, and economic development policy.
• Travel frequently as required for engagement and advocacy activities.

Education

Bachelor's degree in political science, business/strategy, economics, legal, communications, public relations, or a related field
