Job summary

The Office of the State Auditor in Moorhead is hiring an entry‑level Local Government Auditor to assist in audits of Minnesota local governments, evaluating internal controls and testing compliance.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (or a master’s in Accountancy/Finance) and offers a day shift with in‑person interviews in Moorhead; telework eligible after onboarding.

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications: a bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (with at least 24 semester hours of accounting at the intermediate or advanced level), or a master’s degree in Accountancy or Finance (with at least 24 semester hours of accounting at the intermediate or advanced level)

Responsibilities

• Document, test, and evaluate internal controls;
• Perform legal compliance testing;
• Perform federal grant and compliance testing;
• Analyze transactions and financial activities;
• Test accuracy and determine data reliability;
• Document audit evidence in work papers;
• Develop findings.

Skills

Strong written communication skills

Auditing internship experience

Education

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (with at least 24 semester hours of accounting at the intermediate or advanced level)
