Job summary

Chess.com is seeking a senior live events leader to define the strategy for our growing portfolio and personally lead delivery across flagship events, fan experiences, premieres, and partner activations. You will drive cross-functional alignment in a heavily matrixed organization and may build an internal team as the portfolio expands.

You will oversee budgets, venues, and production partners, ensuring a premium experience for players, fans, creators and partners.

Qualifications

• More than 10 years delivering major live events (experiential/broadcast)
• Experience as accountable lead for complex events (broadcast/competition)
• Ability to move between long-term strategy, exec comms and detailed delivery
• Strong budget ownership including forecasting, contracting and reconciliation
• Experience sourcing venues, hotels and production partners across markets or countries
• Clear communication to align a distributed team and partners
• Calm, decisive leadership when plans change

Responsibilities

• Set a long-term live events strategy and roadmap
• Own the portfolio across events, fan experiences and partnerships
• Lead major events like the Speed Chess Championship Finals
• Turn creative concepts into budgets, schedules, teams and production plans
• Build and maintain the master event plan and run of show
• Source and manage venues, agencies and production partners
• Manage event budgets and financial lifecycle with Finance/Legal
• Define success; measure attendance, experience, content and revenue
• Collaborate across Chess.com to activate events of all sizes
• Build an operating system with tools, roles and processes
• Explore new formats, markets and partnerships
• Potentially build and lead an internal events team
