Job summary

Shield Consulting Solutions, Inc. is seeking a highly experienced Linux/Unix System Engineer with TS/SCI w/Polygraph clearance for a full-time role in Laurel, MD.

The position involves managing both physical and virtual server environments, kernel-level tasks, and infrastructure health, with responsibilities spanning RHEL7+ and Windows Server ecosystems, VMware ESXi, AD/Centrify integration, and security tooling installation.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI w/Polygraph clearance is REQUIRED.
• Security+ certification required.
• 20 years experience as a system engineer.
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline; 5 additional years of experience may substitute for a degree.

Responsibilities

• Strong and deep Linux & Unix System Engineering in physical and virtual server environments, including kernel management, OS installation, configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, and ensuring operational health of infrastructure.
• Supports RHEL7+ and Windows Server environments with VMware ESXi in a virtual enclave.
• Manages Active Directory with Centrify integration for Linux; creates accounts and assigns groups via Centrify and Dell Active Roles.
• Installs and maintains security tooling such as McAfee and Nessus Agents; conducts Nessus scans per agency tools.
