Job summary

AfterQuery is hiring linguists as contractors to author and grade language analysis scenarios used to test model judgment on syntax, semantics and phonology. You will be paid for your expert analyses weekly via Stripe, with rates set by experience and no fixed hours.

We seek linguists with an advanced degree and at least two years of research, teaching or applied work. Strong written English and precise technical writing are essential for clear analyses.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in linguistics or closely related field.
• 2+ years of research, teaching, or applied linguistics work.
• Clear written English for documenting linguistic analysis.
• Able to commit at least 10 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Author linguistic scenarios testing syntax, semantics, and phonology.
• Write reference analyses with argumentation behind each judgment.
• Grade model output for analytical accuracy and data handling.
• Flag analyses that read plausibly but misparse or mislabel phenomena.
